Joint Submission to the 13th session of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
CEMiPoS and the Citizens’ Alliance for the Examination of Ainu Policy have submitted a report to the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples about the Ainu people’s right to the repatriation of ceremonial objects and human remains.
From the OHCHR Website: “The Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is preparing a report on Repatriation of ceremonial objects and human remains under the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (Human Rights Council resolution 33/25, paragraph 2b). The Expert Mechanism will present a draft of this report for discussion at its 13th session (8 to 12 June 2020). A final version will be presented to the Human Rights Council at its forty-fifth session (September 2020).”
