Okinawa conference updates: Travel & accomodation details and call for abstracts reminder
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you again for submitting your research proposals to our seminar. We have received abstracts from many international participants. So far, we have presentations from Thailand, Taiwan, Belgium, UK and Finland. We are now organizing the presentations according to your schedule. Our seminar program starts on the 13th to 15th, depending on your schedule you may also join an excursion trip on the 12th of July.
Nago is a remote area with a lot of nature. There is no Uber service or public transportation is limited, so the trip can be a little difficult. We are here to help you if you have any questions about your trip.
For your trip to Nago, we recommend you make hotel reservations as soon as possible since Okinawa/Nago is a tourist destination and sometimes hotels can be difficult to find. We have a list of hotels as following:
1) Hotel Yugaf Inn ( https://www.yugaf.com/en/ )
2) Phoenix Park Hotel (https://phoenixparkhotel.jp )
3) Super Hotel Nago (https://www.superhoteljapan.com/en/s-hotels/nago/)
Once you arrive at Naha airport, you will need to take a shuttle bus to Nago from Naha airport. There are two options (highway-express bus) or street bus. Our recommendation is to take the express bus directly to Nago. You can get off at Nago shiyakusho mae or Nago bus terminal and arrive at your hotel on foot. If you have luggage, you might want to order a taxi from your bus stop to arrive at your hotel. Hotel (1) and Hotel (2) are close to Nago bus terminal so you can walk to the hotel on foot. In order to order a taxi, you will need to go to a convenience store which is very common in Japan and ask staff to help you.

2) Bus service 2

In order to reach Meio University from your hotel, you can either walk or take a taxi/bus but Okinawa can be very humid and hot in July. So, you might want to ask for a taxi or a bus from hotels.
We are also planning a dinner (seminar banquet) on the evening of the first day. We will distribute a google form to ask for your orders as well as food restrictions/allergies via emails.
Finally, we would like to remind that call for papers is still open! Abstracts should be submitted before the 1st of May, 2024. The number of words in the abstract is limited to 150-200. Authors must include the title, affiliation, email address, and 4-5 keywords in the abstract. The completed abstract should be submitted to Madoka Hammine at: m.hammine@meio-u.ac.jp
We are looking forward to welcoming you and learning from you.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
