Urgent Announcement regarding the Final Decolonizing Futures Conference in Ryukyus/Okinawa

On 28 March we heard from Okinawa International University that they won't be able to host the Interdisciplinary Seminar scheduled for 8-9 July due to a lack of classrooms during the week. After considering various options, we have decided to combine the two separate seminars on 12 and 13 July. At the same time, we will change the venue of the exhibition from the Urasoe Art Museum to the Okinawa International University, combining the exhibition with the seminars. We also have to cancel the excursion due to lack of staff. In summary, the final programme is outlined as follows:
11 Venue: Mekaru Base
Performing Arts for an Era of Hope
Amareya Theatre & Guests from Gdansk, Poland and Greenland
Higaza from Okinawa
12-13 Venue: Okinawa International University
Presentations and Panel Discussions with Visual Arts entitled 'Indigenous Resistance and Resilience' by Antonie Frank Grahamsdaughter and Tomas Colbengtson)
Three panel discussions are scheduled to take place, with potential topics of presentation under consideration as follows:
・Panel discussion: Women and Girls under Violence and Discrimination, Repatriation of Stolen Skeletons - Legacy of Scientific Racism, Environmental and Health Issues Facing Indigenous Communities
・Possible presentation topics: Language Loss, Language Reclamation and Community Building, Education, Language Policy and International Human Rights Framework, Collective Rights of Minorities and Indigenous Peoples, Indigenising Museum Spaces, Minority/Immigrant literature, Historical Revisionism and Hate Speeches, etc.
