Videoartist Antonie Frank Grahamsdaughter Publishes Article on Ainu Rights

Distinguished videoartist and journalist Antonie Frank Grahamsdaughter, reported Hatakeyama Ekasi's struggle for Indigenous Ainu people's rights in the Swedish magazine Fjärde Världen. The Ekasi was criminalised by the Hokkaido prefectural government for procuring salmon for the fishing ritual Kamucepnomi on 1 September 2019 against local regulations. Though he has had to spend much of this year at a hospital recovering from a cerebral infarction, he is still fighting for the Ainu people's rights to self-determination, repatriation of their ancestral remains, and fishing. We are planning to take the Hokkaido prefectural and Japanese governments to court in response to his earnest request.
